Autism Resource Sheet PDF

  • The purpose of this hyperlinked document is to support autistics of all ages and their families – offering a positive message and resources after the autism diagnosis is received or when a person self-identifies as autistic.
  • Ideally, all newly diagnosed individuals and families would receive this resource after the diagnostic assessment.
  • This resource can also be used by those exploring an autism diagnosis or distributed to those on a waitlist for autism assessment.
  • The resource sheet reflects continued collaboration between autistic adults, parents of autistic children, healthcare providers, university faculty, and school staff.
  • As a result, this resource sheet will be different than others you may have used.
  • It includes some national resources, but the committee focused on Kentucky specific information and highlight those developed in collaboration with autistics.
  • The content includes key actions for users to take (i. e., Learn More About Autism, Connect with Other Family Members, Get to Know Autistic Self-Advocates, Establish School Plans, Seek Desired Supports and Services, Explore the Larger Disability Community, Support Participation, Additional Resources), with descriptions of why these actions are important and links to specific resources.
  • To have a fully ADA accessibility resource including screen reader friendly, we have created an accessible webpage version of this resource that is linked by QR code on the document and is posted on this website here.
  • At the end of the two-page document is a link “Please complete the Resource Sheet Survey” Please encourage youth, families, and system partners to complete this link after using and or reviewing/sharing the document.
  • The subcommittee reviews feedback on use of the resource sheet, so please encourage all to complete the survey linked at the bottom of the resource sheet and on the accessible webpage.
